Default JBL ES300 is this normal?

I have a JBL ES300 amplifier and it seems to work OK but if it's driven
to overload, the protection circuit shuts off the amp (no sound) and
you have to power it off to restore the audio. This seems to be the
wrong thing to do for a pro sound amp. Is this how these amps are
supposed to work?? Cycling power during a performance is a PITA and
sometimes not possible. Thanks for any information you can provide. I
do not have a manual.

So don't drive it to overload. When you do that you might as well shut
down the show anyway because it's too loud or the engineer is asleep.

I'm not familiar with that particular amplifier, but this is indeed a
mode of protection that has been used.

Whenever someone asks an "Is this normal?" question, the answer is
either "Yes, you don't understand your gear" or "No, it's broken," and
it's usually not too difficult for a reasonably experienced person to
tell which. In this case, I'm fairly sure it's the former. Why don't
you ask someone where you would take it for repair? I doubt that other
than obey the "DON'T DO THAT" rule, you'd be able to fix it yourself
anyway. It's not like there's a fuse blown or a wire loose.
