![]() Tonite on 60 Minutes, Morley had a story about the "Left Behind" series of crap novels and comic books. In the process of showing the "evangelicals" as a bunch of puritanical, superstitious ninnies, the producers showed a clip of Prezadent Bush declaring his love for JEE-zus. The question posed to him was, "Who's your favorite philosopher or sage?" Or something. Anyway, quick as a flash, out popped "JEE-zus Christ!" Then somebody asked him why. The answer was "He accepted me into his heart". Or something. Asked to expand on that, all Dubya could muster was "I am saved!" Or something. Anyway, this is the person who bears the honorary title "Leader of the Free World". These are the darkest days in America since World War II. |

Just goes to show how confused you are, Middius. If it were just an honorary title, you'd have nothing to worry about. Obviously, you are very worried. These are the darkest days in America since World War II. Probably for exactly the opposite reason that you perceive it is, Middius. Notice that I didn't say that you thought, because it is so freakin' obvious that you don't think at all. You just react. |

They sought (and in Lenin's case, tried to establish) a society free of exploitation and class strife. Of course, with your level of obtuseness, you probably think the Soviet Union or the "People's Democratic Republic" of China were exactly what those two philosophers had in mind. Can you distinguish between the idea of communism and the horribly flawed attempts to establish communist states? Have you actually read any of Marx's writings? The fact that Dubya is religious hardly makes him the first U.S. President to be so afflicted. But he is not just religious, he is fanatically so; he is not just a failed scholar, he disdains the very idea of education in favor of superstition and mindless obeisance to a myth. I'm sure he has no idea how wealth is created -- he probably believes "God" chooses which entrepreneurs will be successful, just like "God" chose America to become the most rich and powerful nation in our time. The fact that Dubya is religious hardly makes him the first U.S. President to be so afflicted. Letsee. Truman was a Baptist ("Evangelical") Eisenhower was Mennonite and Presbyterian ("Evangelical" x2) Kennedy was of course Catholic but guess what, Catholics believe in the same God, the same creation, the same need for salvation, etc. Nixon was a Quaker ("Evangelical") Carter was another Baptist ("Evangelical") Reagan was Presbyterian ("Evangelical") Bush I attends a Episcopalian church. That makes him the *other* non-evangelical in the White house in the past 50 years... Clinton was another Baptist ("Evangelical") but I believe he frequently attended a Methodist ("Evangelical") church with his wife. Bush II is obviously another Methodist ("Evangelical"). Now given that Methodists are just Baptists who can read, you've basically got a near-total lock on the white house by Baptist Evangelicals, for the past 50 years. And that's just the guys who made it to the White House. Just guessing here but I'll bet there were far more non-evangelicals among the losers. So there you have it, if you don't want to get elected president of the US, avoid being a Christian evangelical. So Middius, help me here. What is your point? That you don't know squat about history? |

I'm sure he has no idea how wealth is created -- he probably believes "God" chooses which entrepreneurs will be successful, just like "God" chose America to become the most rich and powerful nation in our time. This is an undereducated, unmotivated putz who has nothing more than gut feelings to guide him in weighty decisions. Your support of Dubya covers you with shame. I don't feel the least bit ashamed for standing up for the defense of America. Clumsy dodge. Your support of Dubya covers you with shame. |

You just need to remember that USA didn't hesit to murder 150,000 thousand civilians in Nagasaki and Hiroshima to put a feet in orient and to scare the socialists countries... Actually the goal was to shock Japan into unconditional surrender. Me I think that your US leaders should have been judged according to the nazis at Nuremberg. Shame most of the Japanese war criminals were not tried.... |

Though I am not much for religion, its better than having Marx or Lenin as one's most influential philosopher. Anyway, this is the person who bears the honorary title "Leader of the Free World". These are the darkest days in America since World War II. Though I am not much for religion, its better than having Marx or Lenin as one's most influential philosopher. How revolting. Aren't you ashamed to admit that? Both of those men were visionaries. This is an undereducated, unmotivated putz who has nothing more than gut feelings to guide him in weighty decisions. Your support of Dubya covers you with shame. Not nearly as much as your defense of Lenin and Marx. I doubt that Bush is any more religious than Carter, who was one of the biggest idiots to ever be elected. |

But we've already established that you are out of touch with reality. The use of atomic bombs did save thousands of lives. The Japanese would have inflicted much more destruction and murder had they not gotten a couple of nukes up their asses. |
