Default Transformer for 221b PS.

Can anyone tell me where to grab a step down transformer 220/110v for
the ps for the Schoeps 221b.Or possibly contact info of someone who can
mod it.I was thinking of contacting Bill at "The Micshop" but I'm on the
west coast so maybe there's something local. Thanks,Mark

Hardware stores around here carry the things, although you should look for
an isolation type rather than the cheaper autotransformer ones. My local
electronics place, Cain Electronics in Norfolk, VA, has a bunch on the shelf.

But my bet is that the supply can just be restrapped for 110V internally
and it probably won't take much. The 221b supplies I have used had
dual-primary transformers although I won't guarantee all of them did.
Ask your local tech... these things are not hard to work on.

Talk to Steve Firlotte of Inward Connections... He makes a power supply that
is a great deal better than the ones that Bill Bradley makes. Not sure of
his number right off hand, but you could probably reach him through the
Boutique Audio website.

Mark, Scott Dorsey is right--if you're talking about the Schoeps N 20 B
power supply, it has internal settings for 110 and 127 VAC as well as
220 and 240 VAC. No external transformer should be necessary.

David and Scott,I'm actually a waiting this set-up from Moscow.I did
enlarge the pix I had and it is in fact the N 20 B ps.This is good
news!So it sounds like I can have a tech (or take it on myself)just
rewire the transformer and run a new cord.Scott,if I decide to take it
on I might have to put the training wheels back on my bike and ask for
some advice.
Ben,I talked to Ian at Inward Connections and he said he didn't do any
mods.(I'd like to keep the same ps.)But directed me to Stephen Paul who
is also in So.Cal.Looks like I may not have to go that route.
Gentleman, thanks for all the input and quick responses.

Changing the supply voltage is NOT a modification. It's detailed in the
manual.

Scott,I didn't get the distinction that this wasn't a mod from your
first post,I'm clear now!I'm sure this won't come with a manuel given
the age but I'll do a dogpile search and see where I can find
one.Thanks,Mark
