Default A Radio for an ICE CREAM TRUCK? Suggestions.

I'm looking to have a little music playing when I drive my brothers ICE
CREAM TRUCK and was wondering if there are any systems that are good
for this.

Like... do I absolutely have to have an external antenna? I am not
looking for anything fancy with bells and whistles. Just something
that would allow me to play some of my favorite AM/FM stations without
having to rip the truck apart too much.

Do they have anything where maybe everything is self-contained, like a
unit with a built in antenna and speakers that would do a decent job or
do I still need to put in an external antenna etc....

Any suggestions guys.... would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance. : - )

WHAT? You can't play AM/FM stations! Don't you have to play that "Ice
Cream Man" organ-grinder kiddy music? I LOVE THAT MUSIC! It's the sound of
summer. How about a pair of HUGE horn loaded compression drivers and a
thousand watt amp (you don't need any subwoofers for this kind of music).
They will hear you coming for MILES!!!

Thanks... The problem with my boombox is that it doesn't pick up AM
stations very well, especially when the truck is running. Also... it
takes 8 D Batteries and I would probably need to replace them every few
days.

I don't know about the practicallity of rechargeable D batteries.

I was just hoping that there was some kind of radio that could be put
in. Something put up with a bracket or along those lines.

Thanks

Will it play a tinny, monotonic rendition of "Pop Goes The Weasel" ad
nauseum?

Why should the driver not be subject to the same incessant noise he puts
the rest of the neighborhood through?

you might need an external antenna depending on how good the signals are
in ur area. i live in a mountain-y area so even with an antenna, i
barly get good signals. what kind of truck is it, does have it have
any kind of stereo equipt. already? if not, what matt suggested would
work great, and installing an external antenna isn't too hard.

Agreed, an external antenna is pretty much a guaranteed requirement with
any car deck, as they don't have any sort of built-in antenna like your
portable.
