Hey everyone,
I'm looking for some reccommendations for pre amps for recording my new band's first CD. Here's what we're currently working with: Digi 002 Avalon VT737 AKG C451 Stereo Pair AKG D112 A bunch o' SM57's We want to augment this with four to six more channels of pre's, and try to keep the tab under $1,000. The band is all-acoustic; think Counting Crows meets Guster with a little Nickle Creek thrown in, backed by a kit. We're going to lay the drums down first and build around them. What we're thinking of doing is using the 451's as overheads through the Avalon. Then we need pre's for the snare, kick and two toms (57's on toms & snare, D112 on kick). I've been looking at the Digimax LT, Grace 101, and MP20. Your reviews and reccommendations would be greatly appreciated. Also, if there's a vastly superior snare mic you know of for under $200, hat'd be great as well. Thanks! |
