Windows media player keeps giving me an error when I try to
load up a cubase song.
What's up? Help a new producer...I got clients waiting.

Hmm. There is a short list of file types Windows Media Player can read.
Cubase projects is not among them. My guess though is that you are
trying to read exported or bounced 24 bit audio, which is not on WMA
short list. Try some other program (and here I am on thin ice).

Ya thanx bro. It's 32 bit cause I heard that's the best.
So windows doesn't play the best?
That doesn't seem right...

Try creating a .mp3 or other type that WMP will play. Cubase can do that, right? I don't know, don't
own it.

Pro-ducer is now 99% proved to be a troll.

But for others : :-)

Record in 32-bit if you think it makes any difference. But why
export anything other than 16-bit?

Anyway, WMP doesn't read 24-bit or 32-bit WAV files. There are
players that do. QuickTime player is one.

foobar2000 is another one (but I recommend the older 0.8.3 version over
current 0.9)

What does "a cubase song" mean? What file type?
What codec? Is it on the list of file types that WMP
can play? This is a pretty straightforward question
which can be resolved simply and definitively by
using complete information to seek the answer.

What is the purpose of this production? What will it
be played on? "a cubase song" doesn't sound like an
appropriate release format as you are discovering
right at the beginning.

WTF are you doing in WMP with a client in the room if not
solely for the purpose of playing back a CD or an MP3 ??

What's up?

A brain fart. This don't work so well...

Quickly... give them their money back before they start
saying funny things about you. You did say 32bit right?
I can't figure which is more wasted... you or the drive
space.

;-)

Or upgrade from Windows MED Player to Windows LARGE Player. That
includes all the wrappers.

The following Legacy Filter will allow WMP to play 24 bit and 32 bit wav
files.

Download the filter he
http://www.chrisnet.net/msdn/AudioTypeConvert.zip - Legacy HD Audio Filter

There no installer at the moment as it is primarily intended for developers.
So to install copy the file to a folder on the hard-drive and register as
follows from the run line or a command prompt replacing the path as
required:
regsvr32 "c:\my filters\AudioTypeConvert.ax"
and to uninstall

regsvr32 /u "c:\my filters\AudioTypeConvert.ax"

It appears that ffdshow also works. Downloading and installing the Matroska
Pack Full (http://packs.matroska.org/) brings it along.
