I finally fiinished my comparisons of various pressings of Fragile by Yes.
There were three that clearly stood out from the field and I would recomend any of them. It was very difficult to pick a favorite between them. They were the Brittish original with the orange and plum label, The George Piros American white label promo and the George Piros Columbia record club issue. Of the three the Columbia record club issue was my slight favorite but all three were excellent. On a side note. I highly recomend the Peggy Lee greatest hits reissue on S&P records. The old mono recordings from the late forties sound amazingly good for that era and the late fifties/early sisxties stereo recordings are amazingly life like and are on a par with the DCC reissues of Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley. One other recomendation is the Cisco reissue of Joan Baez Farwell Angelina. |
