I bought the Aiwa Mini HI-FI Component System model
JAX-PK8 ($360) and the amplifier section specs a Power output Rated: 140 W + 140 W (6 ohms, T.H.D. 1%, 1kHZ) Total harmonic distortion 0.08 % (88 W, 1kHZ, 6 ohms, DIN AUDIO) Questions Can I assume that the clean power (without clipping) is 44 W per channel? Given 44 W per channel at 1 kHZ, how much can I expect in the frequency range from 20 to 20000 HZ, maybe 35 W per channel or even less? Thanks in advance |

Yes. If this amp follows the usual pattern, it is definitely clipping at 140 wpc, and clipping just a tad at 88 wpc @ 1 KHz. Probably someplace around 72 wpc, it's not clipping at all. Given 44 W per channel at 1 kHZ, how much can I expect in the frequency range from 20 to 20000 HZ, maybe 35 W per channel or even less? Again, if it follows the usual pattern, it is probably pretty clean 20-20KHz at something like 60 wpc, more or less. |
