Hello:
I read about 5.1 headphones "Zalman Theaatre 6"; they use 3 positioned speakers in each headphone, hence marketing as "real surround". That looked like the right thing to do, so I purchased them. Tried, and heard absolutely zero difference between front and rear channel; though I verified that indeed only the front speaker was playing the frong signal, same with rear (used .wav files from Maven Wizard; Microsoft also has a test at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsXP/w...er/51audio.asp). When on the head, the front and rear signals sound somewhat differently, but I couldn't say which is where if I didn't know. It would be interesting to hear others' opinions. Regards |

That looked like the right thing to do, so I purchased them. Here's some detailed pictures of them: http://www.atruereview.com/theatre6/index.php Tried, and heard absolutely zero difference between front and rear channel; though I verified that indeed only the front speaker was playing the frong signal, same with rear (used .wav files from Maven Wizard; Microsoft also has a test at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsXP/w...er/51audio.asp). All things considered I wonder if these could ever work as they are. I can't quite figure out what they are for sure. It appears that they are three more-or-ess separate pairs of headphones in one. One pair are in the center, and surrounded by more-or-less regure earmuffs. The other two pairs appear to be in the fore and aft wings that show up to the left and right of the earmuffs in http://www.atruereview.com/theatre6/07th.jpg Is this true? When on the head, the front and rear signals sound somewhat differently, but I couldn't say which is where if I didn't know. I don't know if they could ever work without a lot of work. At minimum some rematrixing and level-setting of signals seems to be in order. Which jack is connected to which set of speakers? It would be interesting to hear others' opinions. It would be a cold day in San Deigo before I invested a penny in these things, given what I know about headphone listening. |
