22 gauge speaker wire!
OK, this wasn't my choice -- it came with the car, undoubtedly some GM
bean counter's idea of how to save on costs. I have a '93 Saturn; no it isn't a piece of junk yet, only 59k on it. But what I want to know is how does such thin speaker wire affect the sound? Just what difference would one hear when comparing the system to another with nice heavy wire, like 14 gauge? I know I can rewire for $20, but it isn't the cost, it's the work involved! |

Well, 22 guage wire is probably fine for the stock system, which is very
low-powered. You could rewire it all you want with 14 guage, but you probably won't hear a difference. I am not so sure. Check this out:
http://www.roger-russell.com/wire/wire.htm I found this just after posting, but what I am looking for is feedback from those who have upgraded their wiring.
