Default AM Antenna

We are building a new home. I am planning on mounting an aerial antenna
in the attic fro FM reception. I am also considering running a loop
antenna in the studs of an outer wall for AM reception.

Can anyone offer sound advise on the AM antenna idea? Will it work or is
it a waste of time?

Thanks, in advance.

i have such a longwire AM antenna running around the attic space in a three
story house. It is probably 300' and is tapped at one end with coax. I also
tried it center tapped with the sheild or ground on one half the length.
300' is not long enough in my opinion, and, additionally it picks up a lot
of electrical noise. The only improvement is that it overcomes the
directional problem most tuners have with the little loop antenna they
provide.

The hum - build or buy a trap for the lower frequencies.

Can you provide any guidance on building a trap?

It isn't hum
It is spike noise like lightning, motor starters, flourescent lamps, CRT's
vacuum cleaners, that kind of stuff.
