Default Question about GM Bose system...anyone know?

Hi folks,

I just bought a 2004 GMC with the Bose system and would like to add my
RF amp and subs out of my old truck. The new truck has the standard Din
and a half stock radio and the Bose sub sucks, but I don't really want
to change the head unit right now. My question is...how does the Bose
amp hook up to the head unit? If they ran is with RCA's then I'm
golden, and I'll just unplug it and add the Fosgate. Does anyone know
if it connects with RCA's, or is it a straight high level input? OR IS
THERE EVEAN AN AMP??? I *know* in my wifes Yukon there is an amp under
the center console, I *assume* my truck is the same. Anyone know?

It most certainly DOES NOT use RCA's. I had a Bose system once and I did
exactly what you want to do. I just simply Y-ed one of the speaker leads (I
would use the Bose subwoofer lead) and ran that into the RCA inputs of my
amp. It worked GREAT!! You can get away with this for driving a sub, but
generally not for anything else as I ALWAYS had buzzes when trying to use an
amp and high-frequency drivers with a Bose HU. These buzzes are inaudible,
however, when driving a subwoofer.

Cool, I assume you went through a hi/lo converter and connected between
the amp and sub, right?

I used the low-pass filter on the amplifier I was using, but I didn't use
any other type of filter. I used speaker level inputs into my RCA's. This
will work fine as long as your gains on the amp are low enough.
