I just acquired a pair of 8w6's at a garage sale for cheap and had some
wiring questions. Along with the speakers, I bought an MTX Thunder 801D amp on the cheap side as well. Looking on MTX's page, here are the specs. * Power measured at 14.4 Volts DC: * 800 Watts x 1 into a 2 Ohm load * 400 Watts x 1 into a 4 Ohm load * RMS Power measured at 12.5 Volts DC: * 500 Watts x 1 into a 2 Ohm load with less than 1% Thd+N * 250 Watts x 1 into a 4 Ohm load with less than 1% Thd+N * Signal to Noise Ratio: 100dB A-Weighted * Damping Factor: 100 * Frequency Response: 20Hz-200Hz ± 3dB * Maximum Input: 8Vrms * Thunder EQ: Variable Bass Boost (0-18dB) centered at 40Hz * Crossover: Variable 40Hz to 200Hz, 24dB/Octave Low Pass * Dimensions: 11.5" x 9.75" x 2.1" (29.3cm x 24.8cm x 5.3cm) What I can't figure out is if the subs will work with this amp. I understand that the subs can only be wired in either a 1.5 or 6 ohm configuration, and neither are presented by the amp, so am I just out of luck? Any help would be appreciated! |
