Is it possible to edit an audio file so that the channels are
transposed. i.e. move left channel to right and vise versa. If so, what software do I need? tia Rob |

In Cubase SX select the file in the arrange window. Then go to Process and
select Stereo Flip. There are options there to do that Martin "Bampah" wrote in message ups.com... Is it possible to edit an audio file so that the channels are transposed. i.e. move left channel to right and vise versa. If so, what software do I need? tia Rob |

It is truly a sad commentary on the human race when we need software to do something like that. Unplug the left & right cables and SWITCH THEM. I think I'll write a C++ program to scratch my balls for me so I can keep both hands on the console. |

What cables might such a file provide that he can SWITCH? I think I'll write a C++ program to scratch my balls for me so I can keep both hands on the console. I would be very interested in seeing the functional requirements and user interface documents of such a program. -- ================================================== ====================== Michael Kesti | "And like, one and one don't make | two, one and one make one." mrkesti at comcast dot net | - The Who, Bargain |

Just to answer the original question: almost any audio editing program will
have some way to do this. A free one is Audacity: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Peace, Paul |

Thanks Paul & Michael,
I couldn't manage it with Nero wave editor so I'll give Audacity a try. Harmony Rob |

Shoot me, but I haven't understood Agent86's remarks as offensive. In fact, it doesn't seem like they were addressed to you at all. I think I'll write a C++ program to scratch my balls for me so I can keep both hands on the console. Whilst you are down there scratching, why not move slightly backwards and put your lipstick on as your 'solution' was totally inadequate to resolve my problem and only indicated where you are talking from. I think you would have done yourself a favour if you had re-read his post and perhaps tried to clarify a thing or two before showing your true colors. We've had enough newbies showing really bad attitude, firing personal insults as soon as they receive anything but completely servile replies. This is not your free support line. If you want any respect here at least pretend you have a minimum of respect to give. Predrag |

Thanks for your comments Pedrag but I think it is probably you who
should re-read Agent86's posting. His reply did nothing to assist me in my query and he implied that I was too stupid to think about swapping cables when I had made it quite clear it was an audio file query, not a hardware query. I was not after a servile reply but certainly did not expect or deserve a flaming. Whilst I am a newbie to your group I have tried to help many people in groups where I am not. I would certainly not condone anyone in any group replying to a newbie with that sort of attitude and am surprised that you are supporting him. Having said that, I apologise if my reply offended you but I do suggest that you stop treating this group as your own personal domain. |

OK, I re-read his reply and agree that it wasn't exactly relevant to your question. I still don't believe that the harshness of your reaction was appropriate, especially your choice of words, but I can see now that you could have been offended by his comments. I was not after a servile reply but certainly did not expect or deserve a flaming. Whilst I am a newbie to your group I have tried to help many people in groups where I am not. I would certainly not condone anyone in any group replying to a newbie with that sort of attitude and am surprised that you are supporting him. I myself would have never made such comments and I'm not supporting anything that contributes to noise. It's just that your noise was louder than his and that's what I reacted to. Let's call it the masking effect. It was late in the night, ear fatigue and all. I've tried for years to stay out of conflicts here on r.a.p. and I've certainly never called anybody names, but recently I seem to be unable to escape getting openly insulted on a regular basis. I still don't feel like entering into ****ing matches, especially with anonymous posters, but I do believe that a more pro-active approach in such cases is beneficial in the long run. Having said that, I apologise if my reply offended you but I do suggest that you stop treating this group as your own personal domain. Just stick around and you'll see that I have no such ambitions. Your reply didn't offend me personally, but I appreciate your willingness to apologize. It shows class, something that certain passers-by here are sorely missing. Predrag |

Is it possible to edit an audio file so that the channels are
transposed. i.e. move left channel to right and vise versa. If so, what software do I need? Any DAW should have a plugin that will accomplish this. In Digital Performer it's the "Trim" plugin, which provides a set of panpots for moving the channels anywhere you want them in the stereo field. Scott Fraser |
