Hi all, I've recently purchased an Apex large diaphram condensor mic
and have bee powering it with a cheap Art tube pre. I went ahead and tried to swap out the Art's TL702 opamps in favor of Burr Brown 2604s... now the thing won't work (naturally !) Not to worry... it was only $100. Thing is I don't necessairly want to replace it with another low quality pre or even a small mixer (you know the ones) to get phantom power and make the connection to my computer's 24 bit soundblaster card (600 ohm line level). What I do have is an older Tascam 244 4-track recorder that would seem to have beter qualiy channel strips but does not support XLR or phantom power. It has only unballanced 1/4" inputs. My Question is would it be feasable to construct and install at least one XLR input in the Tascam that will give me mic pwr and impedance matching to where ever it might patch in to the existing input? How might such a circuit lay out ? Oh and Phase reversal feature for the condensor mic might be handy. I can salvage parts from the dead Art pre. Anyone care to make suggestions ? |
