Default Chameleon Audio Ltd - D2000

I am trying to track down some information on Chameleon Audio Ltd, who
I believe make (or used to make amplifiers) such as the D2000.

I am just trying to find out more info on the D2000, and any opinions
on it's quality, current, wattage, and most importantly how does it
sound? Compared to say a Bryston, Hafler etc

I managed to find this number but it is not in use - 01594 827 602

Any info most appreciated,

Jon

Gearline sells their stuff in the UK. I don't know who the US rep is,
but a call to Gearline might get you something. Their website is
down, but you might try ewartatcmpr.co.uk who is one of their sales
guys. If the company is gone, Gearline will probably know the details.

I believe that is a very high power amplifier, that is designed for PA
applications where power is a critical thing. I also know that Chameleon
was very into switching supplies for quite a while, which I think is
probably not such a good idea from the standpoint of ease of repair
and maybe from a sonic standpoint.

My only experiences with their amps have been in PA applications
driving large stacks where amplifier sound quality was not very
critical; this is not a good environment to evaluate sonics in.

Thanks very much Scott & PB. Just what I wanted to know.

Just to say, I have always found nearly everything I need to know by
searching the old posts in this group, and hence have to post here very
infrequently.
I am always very impressed by the standard, and now the speed, of the
replies and answers. Thanks again.

The Chameleon audio amps where originally made by Malcolm hill audio but he
sold the design to another company who manufactured & sold them & some
loudspeakers direct.
However the whole operation was wound up (about 2 years ago?) because it
never made any money. Opinions vary about the Chameleon amp some liked some
did not, they
seemed quite reliable though I am not sure who could repair one now
for some info try http://www.gbaudio.co.uk/data/2200s.htm#GB

I thought they'd packed up.

I think the amplifier was originally a Hill model.

It's an SR amlifier not hi-fi btw.
