Default What's on Your Xmas List

Just curious what anyone might have on their Christmas
list of audio wants.

I haven't sorted out what my next upgrade might be,
maybe a cart, maybe a preamp and I'm pretty sure Santa
isn't gonna drop off a pair of mbl 101s no matter how good
I am so I've decided to keep my
list simple. Music, preferably vinyl
from Classic Records but I won't be picky.

What's on your list?

Looking at the structural similarities between the MBL 101 and my old Ohm
F's, the first thing I'd look at were they to show up in my lab is their
actual frequency response. I suspect that they ring like bells. I don't see
where anybody has done tests like these, and I certainly don't trust the
breathless radical subjectivist reviews I've read of them.

What's black and sounds kinda gritty? The vinyl LP or a lump of coal.

;-)

Something made by Etymotic or Shure that's better-sounding than what I
already have and enjoy along the same lines.

Leave it to you to complain about a present.
Interesting that they would show up in your lab rather than your listening room.
I bet you often receive gift certificates.

Nothing gritty on my new copy of Selling England by the Pound.
It sounds far better than either version of CD I have.

The new Mercury box set from Speaker's Corner would top the list. An original
deep grove copy of Clifford Brown's memorial album in mint condition would be
nice. Any and all of the Rhino reissues of the classic Yes albums with the
bonus material would be great as well

Given the state fo your turntable setup this would be a reasonable expectation.
On a real highend rig this is simply not the case unless the LP is damaged.

Very true. And high-end turntables can be obtained for very reasonable prices
these days from a number of manufacturers.

The post of Krueger's was just another example of his anti-vinyl, anti-tube,
anti-individual preference agenda generating an unprovoked attack.

I've hinted heavily about a VPI 16.5, but my wife has yet to buy me anything
even remotely audio or music related as a gift. I hoping someone will buy me
the Indiana Jones DVD set at the very least.

That is surprising. Here are the details.

Record 1. Albert Berg: Suites from Wozzeck and Lulu, Dorati/London Symphony
Orchestra.

Record 2. Gunther Schuller: Seven Studies on Themes of Paul Klee? Paul Fuller:
Contrasts for Orchestra, Dorati/ Miniapolis Symphony Orchestra

Record 3. Arnols Schoenberg, Anton Eebern, Albert Berg: Viena 1908-1914,
Dorati/ London symphony Orchestra

This is modern stuff. Most if not all 12 tone. Not the most accesable music in
the world. Be warned.

There is so much stuff I want to get on DVD. Anyone know where I can get a copy
of Quatermas and the Pit?

You know, that was even tough to get on VHS. You might check reel.com to see
if it was ever released.

Wow. It is available. I was going to suggest looking under "5,000,000 Years
to Earth, " its other title.
