I just got my Nitty Gritty Pro IIa back from the factory after being
serviced. I wanted to say dealing with Scott and Gayle at Nitty Gritty was a pleasure. The work was done quickly and correctly, and the price was very reasonable. They even threw in a 16-oz bottle of cleaning solution when they sent the cleaner back to me. I've never used any other brand of record cleaner so I can't compare between brands, but I seriously doubt that anyone could have better customer service than what I experienced. Let me know if you have any questions about the repair work I had done or about the record cleaner in general. Scott Gardner |

Let me know if you have any questions about the repair work I had done or about the record cleaner in general. I have an original Pro that I bought back in the early 80's. Other than the new felt thingies that go on the vacuum pickup, I've never had to do anything to it. It doesn't get very much use today, except for old 45's (jukebox records) and the occasional album I clean for friends. At this rate, it will last forever. Mine was pulling fluid from the cleaning fluid tank whenever the vacuum was turned on, and draining it all out underneath the unit. It turns out, the fluid line had a small leak where it entered the injection manifold. This exposed the contents of the fluid line to vacuum during the drying stage, and would completely drain the fluid tank in about 15 seconds! Scott pretty much disassembled the whole unit, repaired the leak, checked and lubricated the spindle motor, fixed a small leak in the fluid tank, cleaned up the vacuum unit where it had pulled all the fluid through it, and replaced the felt strips on top and bottom, along with the capstan roller. I agree, they seem to be built hell-for-stout, and if a small service and repair like this is what I can expect every fifteen or twenty years, I'll be happy. Scott Gardner |

While I have never owned a Nitty Gritty product, I'm a long time happy user of a VPI 16.5 record cleaning machine and also a number of their different tuntable models. VPI has a well-earned reputation for making well-built products and providing excellent customer satisfaction.
