Creating a CD/DVD WMA Audio Disk
I have a 3 hour program that I recorded from the radio. It's in wma format.
Is it possible to place this on a DVD in such a way that it can be played on a conventional CD player? Perhaps I need an mpeg player and convert the wma format to mpeg? I have Nero 6. Wayne T. That assumes your CD player can play mp3 files. Newer ones often can. If your player can't play mp3 files then you will have to convert the wma file to a wav file, split it into 3 approximately equal sections (using something like Audacity software), then use Nero to create a music CD for each wav file. So your program would wind up taking up 3 CDs. I doubt you can make a music DVD that would play on a CD player. |

"Conventional" covers a lot of ground. There are a few portable CD players that will play CDRs containing wma files. I happen to own one--Audiophase CDM375--which I bought for $30 about a year ago. There may be home decks by now that do the same, although I'm not aware of any. As far as DVDs and DVD players go, many such players will play both CDRs and DVDRs with wma coding. My Toshiba and Cyberhome players will do this. The Cyberhome has an especially nice directory layout. As a matter of curiosity, I burned a DVD with 160 hours of music in wma format. It plays perfectly on both DVD players. I then tried a DVD+RW and it would play on both players. Then I tried DVD-RW and it would play on the Cyberhome, but not the Toshiba. Norm Strong |
