This guy is asking $1.5M for this thing! How can anyone expect to get
that kind of dough for that desk?

(I'm not looking to start trouble; this is just baffling me.)

Well, it WAS used to record the Beach Boys, and it's obviously not
tired since it's had a good 20 year rest just like Rip Van Winkle.

It was a pretty classy console in its day, and probably cost over
$100,000. If $1.5M is one and a half million US dollars, that's too
much. If it's $1,500.00 (M means thousand in some circles) then it's a
very fair price and you should jump on it before some Beach Boys fan
offers him two grand.

Reading is no longer necessary when we have pictures and messages to
quote.

you would not believe what people in that area ask (and get) for rental of
stuff like that for use as movie props.

Dr. Allison has assured me that it is not a typo, because he read it in
the original posting (and I didn't). And when Phil Allison says
something is so, by golly it's going to be so, even if it's wrong.

It's certailnly wishful thinking, though at that price it would
certainly deter the purchaser from taking it apart and rack-mounting
the channel strips - the usual fate of consoles of that vintage and
reputation these days.

was a mite bewildered as to my exact wherabouts once for three days"

i got the feeling the owner beleives this is a gen-u-wine antique. a
oneovakind certified priceless irreplacible memento of a by gone rock and
roll era... who knows he might be right.

i have a pair of Collins turntables mounted in a heavy portable table. i
believe, but cannot prove definitively that these were used by Dick Clark. i
wonder what they are worth on the open market?
when i can find a crew and truck to move them they are earmarked for a
museum.

Did you see the comment *no mic amps* !

Can't see much point in racking those 'strips'.

For max $1500.

Agreed.

Graham

p.s. BBC2 has a new 'low rent' spoof sci-fi series called Hyperdrive.... give
me Red Dwarf any day instead.
