Ross,
Kudos if you can enjoy music suboptimally reproduced! It truely is marvelous that you can receive the emotional content of the music even whe portrayed in a way that hifi aficionados do not find satisfying. By the same token, however, avoid tuning into people who tell you what you want to hear. Many people feel a need to receive external assurance that their choice is the right one. When dressed up as pseudo science, it can be quite appealing. Ross, the "everything sounds the same" mantra a trap. It is not a trap for you to be satisfied with what you have, but you do not need the crutch of intellectual dishonesty to be satisified. It is a completely unnecessary pollution of the purity of your mind. Arny Krueger's website is irrelevant to hifi reproduction. As Ludovic Mirabel has shown, Arny's methods actually disguise differences that are widely accepted, and verified over many years of collective audiophile experience. Ross, everyone, except the plutocrats, is really in the same boat as you are. A friend of mine, by dint of successful equipment trading, has recently ascended to "high end" levels of audio equipment which is not feasible for me to match. But I don't grasp for reasoning to tell me that my boat is better, or just as good. I simply enjoy what I have, and enjoy what he has. Be happy, but do not allow pseudo science to close your mind. |
