Can anyone say anything USEFUL about Sansui products?

I'm in the market for a CD/MP3 player for my girlfriend's compact car
in a big city -- needless to say, I'm not going all out. I'm not
concerned about their high-end products -- will this thing do the job
or what?

Thanks

Seems like a brand with limited distribution at this time.

Try the aus.hi-fi group.

**Not really. Some of their older products were interesting, but that is
ancient history.

**I use a JVC CD/MP3 player. Cost me less than 300 Bucks (Aussie Bucks),
from Appalling (Apollo) HI Fi. Great machine. Easy to use, excellent
heirarchy for tracks, doesn't jump and the sound (through my OEM Commodore
speakers) is inaudibly different to the original CD (when burned at 320k/s).
Here's the real kicker: I drove to Canberra a few months ago. I was able to
listen to 'Old Fart Radio' (2WS-FM) down in the ACT, no problems. My old
($1,000.00+) Eurovox could not come close to managing that feat.

I dunno about the Sansewer, but I highly recommend the JVC KD-S785.

Much obliged fellas..

As it turns out, the Sansui CD Reciever I checked out at Strathfield
Parramatta does have impressive features, ie. FM presets, CD/MP3
capabilities, relatively stylin face design, but if it's NOT the only
player you can get for under $300 AUD I think I'd prefer to stick with
a brand name.

On the other hand, for $29 more, Strathfield offers a three year
extended warranty, which means if anything gives out, I just bring it
in and they relace it. Might be a good option for a "Sansewer"
device. Thanks for your input.

**Sasui WAS a major brand name. It ain't no more. Features aside, I would
suggest you look at the JVC I recommended earlier. It's performance is truly
excellent. It also has all the essential features, like: Lots of presets,
tone controls, faders, detachable face-plate, clock, remote control, etc.
The Sansui may well be just as good, but I know nothng of how well it
performs. When I went looking for a CD/MP3 player, I found a goodly number
of units, from a diverse range of (largely unknown) manufacturers. I ended
up paying around AUS$30.00 more for the JVC. I could not be happier. The
extra 30 Bucks has been forgotten (as have the instructions for re-setting
the clock to daylight savings time) and I can just listen to nice music.

**It may also be a very tiresome experience.
