Default Marantz 2220 receiver questions

Hello, Listers,

I am looking for a pair speakers matching to the Marantz 2220
receiver. Do you have any suggestions for that? My main taste is the
chamber music, and I do not mind the sound to be a little bit warm. By
the way, is Marantz 2220 worth anything today at all? Based on the
transactions at ebay, it seems that it is not worth much. But aside
from the monetary value, is it a good amp except for its lower-powered
RMS ratings? Thanks!

Not a great piece. Look for high efficiency speakers, 92 dB is practical.

Can you recommend some high efficiency speakers that are suitable for
chamber music listening? I do not mind buying used.

I would hope that others will help out here, since my experience is
primarily with used equipment, not current market pieces.
However, the following brands have been noted for high efficiency:
AR "HO" series.
Klipsch
JMlabs Chorus series
Quart

A friend of mine has a set of Klipsch KG 2.2's he would sell you.
Call Larry at Willow Grove Day Camp; (215) 657-5859, 9 to 5.

With related designs, larger speakers are more efficient than smaller
speakers.
Speakers with lightweight cones are more efficient than designs using
heavier materials.

Thanks for the suggestions. Actual I do not mind if you recommend some
used speakers. Late 70's ~ 80's should be OK. Thanks once again!

Here's a high efficiency speaker newsgroup:

I'm partial to the older Klipsch speakers (Heresy, Kornwall). You will
find that hgih efficiency speakers are physically larger.
