Default Insurance for Mobile Recording Equipment?

Hey everyone,

I'm a producer/engineer from Toronto that working with mobile recording
equipment including a laptop, audio interfaces, mics, stands,
headphones, cables, etc. I've accumlated enough equipment and am
travelling around enough that i would like insurance coverage for the
equipment. I've contact my own insurance company that covers regular
home coverage, but they seem very expensive for out of home business
use equipment.

Are there there any Canadian insurance brokers that are recommended by
any other mobile recording engineers?

Thanks very much,

Mike Rocha

Mike,

Not so sure about "home based" business. Why not just call it a business. My
studio policy covers gear in a locked vehicle which suits me. It's the only
time it's out of my sight on a remote. Still there was only one company in
town that would look at it.

Ask them about inland marine coverage. That's basically what you need to
cover equipment in transit.

I'm in the US, but I would suggest asking the local film rental houses
(and there are a lot in Toronto) who provides equipment insurance that
they'd recommend.
