OK lamer,
From Component Services, find and start MS Software Shadow Copy Provider which is dependent on Remote Procedure Call (RPC) so find and start that too. Finally, change you sig, cause you ain't worthy of it. :-) GeoSynch "Langis" wrote in message ... The Backup system tool fails on my XP machine. I've probably disabled required services. I hope this one will legislate to oblige the Californians to a minimum of 3 hours sport a day ! At least he can't possibly muck things up worse than his predecessor. You will be able to mock your compatriots from Tennessee ! Hey, don't knock Tennesseans! They had the good sense to keep their homeboy Al Gore from winning the Presidency last time 'round! :-) GeoSynch |

And since you're turning RPC on, make sure your firewall is robust (and I mean a real firewall, not that rinky-dink piece of junk bundled with XP), and also that your anti- virus definitions are current, as RPC is a wormer's delight.
