I want to expand 8 more channels for and I need a budget-oriented 8
channel Preamps + AD converters.
I saw the Presonus Digimax LT which looked cheap but that it could do
the job. The only thing that worried me there was that the specs say
that the gain that it gives is up to 40db. I know most preamps goes up
to 60db. Are this 20db crucial? Do you have any other recommendation
for what I need?

I have used one for almost a year now and have never run out of gain. I
have had great results with this preamp.

What are you running into?

I've got a Presonus Firepod I'll sell you for $495. Has worked well for me.
I haven't used the Digimax for comparison but the Firepod sounds good to my
ears.
