Default VMP2 US2UK

I've recently acquired a VMP2 from the US but, unfortunately, the power
supply is not 'switchable' to 220V. Would it make sense if I took it to
a technician to mod it or should I just go for an external step-down
transformer? In the former case, would you have a decent guy to
recommend here in London for this kind of job?

Many thanks to all!
