Red face Bi-amping/bi-wiring "hair puller"

Setup - CA Asur 640C (CD Player)to a CA 640A (Amp) with an old Kenwood 3020SE acting as the 'power amp' (set to full volume). Speakers are MS 914i.

Trouble is that one speaker is always a little quieter and 'dull' sounding than the other. When I swap the bi-wire connects at the amps, the quiet speaker changes (from this I've concluded that the cables and speakers are OK?). Tried all sorts and can't get both speakers to the same volumes/sound quality (checked the obvious connects, speaker lengths etc...) No avail.

Hum? Any advice - starting points? (if not, know any good wig makers....)
