Default Turtle Beach Santa Fe

If I recall correctly, this is one of Arny's favorite

cheap
sound cards.

That was the Santa Cruz, from about 3 years ago.

It sounds good to me, too. Arny, can you explain
how the digital out works? Is it coaxial or optical? The
"versa-jack" is a mini-jack plug.

I can't find anything about a Turtle Beach Santa Fe card.

I do have a mini-jack--optical cable that I got in Japan

in
1993 with a Sharp minidisc player, but it doesn't light up

my
decoder when I assign the versa-jack to the optical-out

from the
sound driver. Any ideas?

Some MD recorder digtal ins are very selective about the
digital outs that they actually work with. There are some
SCMS issues, as well.

Okay, but what sort of cable does the versa-jack want?

3.5 mm stereo jack.

I need to connect it to the optical-in or coax-in on a

surround
receiver, not the minidisc recorder.

Try a standard 3/5 mm-to dual RCA adaptor. Try both RCA
plugs, one at a time. Insulate the tip of the RCA plug you
don't use.

It worked! Thanks, Arny.

Wow, it sounds MUCH better than the analog connection!

Enjoy!
