Default Help please Behringer8024

I can't get this to work!!! :-(

I have a Behringer Ultra Curve Pro 8024 DSP. I have the
latest firmware 1.3 installed and the Behringer DSP8024
remote control software installed on an *old* IBM ThinkPad
Celeron 500 XP professional and a Roland EDIROL UM-1SX
USB-MIDI interface. (yes the in goes to out and the out
goes to in on the Midi plugs)

I have tried everything to get this to work and I am now
admitting defeat. When the Behringer software starts it
says MIDI Input/Output device not selected. Control panel -
Sounds and Audio Devices says it is selected for the MIDI
device. The DSP8024 in "Global Setup" has all the MIDIs
turned on including OMNI Mode. The USB device has the
latest driver installed.

Can anyone here help? Does anyone know where else I can try
if not here. And yes I am all Goggled out as well and as
far as I can see there is nothing stopping this from
working.

So please take pity on a poor unfortunate Windows user ;-)

Regards TT

I think the Behringer software is telling you you have not selected which
MIDI device to use. The software has a Setup menu item, which you use to
select which of the computer's MIDI ports you are using. (If you think
about it, a computer can have more than one sound card, hence more than one
set of MIDI ports; so you need to tell the behringer DSP8024 software which
set of MIDI ports the DSP8024hardware is connected to.)

Yeah I sorta thought of this to but in one of the screens
there is a "MIDI set up" Button. By pressing that it
cancels the whole program. So full circle again. Win XP
has the device with valid driver selected *but* at the very
start the DSP8024 program says "MIDI Input/Output device not
selected". So this is the frustration. I think it may be
more of a XP problem than a Behringer one (shrug). But
there seems to be no solution.

BTW I installed the USB MIDI device on a very fast late
model computer equipped with a SB Audigy Platinum card (with
the break out box and MIDI already operating) with the same
results

Thanks for the reply.
