Default McIntosh MX406 Head Unit From Japan! Tuner Problems

Hi all. Not sure if this is the right place for this. I've just bought
a McIntosh MX406 - ex japan. Made in Japan with Japanese manual. I have
2 problems with it. There are no McIntosh dealers in New Zealand, so
can't find anyone to help.

1. The tuner only goes up to 90MHz FM. In New Zealand we go up to
something like 108MHz (same as the US I believe). So I can only pick up
2 stations. I can get a band expander here for just this type of thing,
but the quality is not good, and makes the tuner sound even worse, so I
don't feel that is a viable option. Since the MX406 is sold in the US,
is there a way of having this one set up to do the full range of FM up
to 108MHz?

2. There is a wiring loom which goes to another box (Power Supply?)
which is connected to Earth and ACC. The Power is connected straight to
the unit itself. This leaves 4 wires. A solid blue, blue w white strip,
solid orange, orange w white stripe. Does anyone know what these wire
are for?

I have emailed the service dept at McIntosh, but have had no answer,
and couldn't get a hold of them on the phone neither.

If anyone can help or put me to someone/somewhere who can, it would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advanced.

Yung
