Default BIG POSH MIC CLIP... AM I MAD?

Hello,
I'm a freelance engineer and a partner in a studio in Dublin. Anyway,
I've awlays been really unimpressed by the mic clip that came with my
C12 VR. So while at a trade show I saw one of the new Enhanced Audio
(EA) mic clips, it looks great, holds the mic beautifully, and is
totally adjustable and it costs nearly =80300.00. Do I need my head
examined ?

They can't really make the mic sound better can they ?

The only problem is now I need a really heavy stand for it, with a boom
arm I could swing off. Any ideas?

Kindest Regards

I also desperatly need a mount for a C12. a studio im working at has an
original C12 and no way to put it on a stand.

if you dont have a big heavy mic stand and a solid floor a shockmount
will probably clean up the low end.

Probably. I don't see any shock mounting in the design at
all.

Those delrin clamp *pads* are actually very hard, even a tad
brittle. I don't see any shock mounting anyplace else. What
am I missing?

Looks like the emperor's new mic clamp to me.

They claim to be very rigid and they seem to be. Did I say
no shock mounting?

How about something that actually shock mounts the mic.

DELRIN !!!!!!

That's a material that's been used for making motor bearings !

Entirely unsuitable for mic mounts.

Hi
It's the fact that the clip is not shock mounted, I think, that seems
to make the difference to the sound. The hollow body of the mic is
apparently dampened from any resonances within it. The bass does seem
to be clearer.
The problem with the stand is it's just not strong enough to hold the
mic with the boom out over a kit for overheads for example.
I'm using a Keith Monk stand.

Need head examined for getting into this poxy buisness in th first
place!!!

Kindest Regards

Dear Mr Slevin

Thank you for your purchase of the Enhanced Audio M600 universal
microphone mount.
With regard to your question as to whether or not you are mad in
relation to your purchase then that statement would suggest that the
Producers and Engineers who have contributed their testimonials to the
Enhanced Audio website www.enhancedaudio.ie
have also joined the asylum.

In reply to the very ''open minded'' discussion you have
initated with your question,
i=2Ee. the validity of your preconceived madness.
I would respectively suggest to the jury that the Enhanced Audio M600
is not a shockmount or a mic clip, it is a microphone mount and in
relation to the validity of it's
claimed improvements, the respective jury members should relax on the
subject of theory
and just listen, and then announce to the court it's findings.

Nice ad plug piece David... Probably looks great in a magazine but here it
really feels cheesy.
That said, there's a reason Neumann mounts cost the same $300 or so that
yours does.
Never heard of ya, haven;t seen the thing, but 'sound better'? That's
amusing.
That it's just a well-built real microphone mount would be enough to say as
there're precious few of those.

for a C12, I think that one of the Audio technica 8415v low profile
shock mounts will work just fine. I use them on my UM57 Neumann, whixh
is about the same diameter as a C12. about $60.
