Default Looking for PORTABLE Multitrack Protools recording in LA...

....for this coming week. Looking for a 48 channel portable system to
record location sound and sync to multicamera shoot.

Anybody have a recommendation??

Don't use ProTools for this application.

Two Alesis HD24's will be smaller and more reliable. After you get your
field sound, transfer it to ProTools for editing.

There are systems other than the Alesis that will do the same job,
but the Alesis units are easily available.

48 channels of ProTools is a really big system.

I'd give DMT Rentals (http://www.dmtrentals.com) a call for this- They are
one of the better rental houses for this kind of thing- they routinely
provide large Pro Tools systems for the Motion Picture Scoring Stages.

48 Tracks is big, but not insane... In any case, I would actually suggest
having redundant systems. Probably the PT system plus a Radar or similar
HDR rig would be your best bet. No system out there is foolproof and to
depend on only one is asking for trouble.
