I just completed editing 24 one-hour video programs (using Adobe
Premire Pro 1.5) and using Adobe Audition 1.5 for audio processing (mostly level normalizing, etc.) While I was working on these, I found an annoying behavior which I don't remember ever encountering back when it was Cool Edit (2K or Pro). When selecting (highlighting) a section of the waveform timeline to apply an effect to, Audition would let me set "in" and "out" points only at certain points. For example, I could see a quiet spot between sentences, but Audition would NOT let me set the "in point" there, it would snap to some fraction of a second before or after the desired point. I had to zoom in to see an expanded view before Audition would let me select the desired point on the timeline. And no, I don't think it had anything to do with video as it was just an exported 48K x 16-bit WAV file. Audition wouldn't have any way of knowing that it was the sound track from a video program. |

Just right click the digits on the time line, and you can select the normal set of snap options. d Pearce Consulting http://www.pearce.uk.com |

I haven't used Audition so I'm just guessing here, but that sounds like you have automatic zero-cross editing turned on. The software will find a point closest to your "selected" point where the waveform is at exactly zero. That eliminates clicks and pops at the edit point. Not necessarily a bad thing in cases where to-the-millisecond timing of the edit point is not critical. There are times when I wish Pro Tools had that option. It would make cutting dialog a lot faster and easier. -- "It CAN'T be too loud... some of the red lights aren't even on yet!" - Lorin David Schultz in the control room making even bad news sound good (Remove spamblock to reply) |
