Q: Is it ok to hide speakers in my heat radiator?
I want to hide my speakers, and I thought the easiest maybe to hide
them behind my heating system radiator panel. I was wondering if that will damage the speaker, the radiator obviously gets very hot. Thanks |

Thanks. I guess I should prolly stay away from this idea.

Thanks I have no idea if you're talking about a home or car installation...but in either case, I'd advise against it. Mounting a transducer in a concentrated heat source is likely to send your speaker to an untimely demise. Reduced electrical power handling wouldn't be shocking (since the power rating of the speakers I have to assume, assumes testing at room temp), and accelerated surround and cone degradation should be expected as well just because natural degradation is always accelerated in the presence of additional heat. If you know tihs going in and still opt to do it, just factor in this potential problem into your budget in case the component fails. It might sound and look just fine (if it doesn't burst into flames). Best Regards, |
