Hi:
I am building a passive contol preamp. It will source from a CD player, DVD player, tuner and maybe a tube phono preamp. What value of potentiometer is best for such a device? I was going to order a 100k pot since that's wha I've used in tube amps but a friend told me that in a passive preamp the connector cables act as loads so I should order a 25k or 10k potentiometer. Is this true? If so does this mean that for a potentiometer built into a tube amp a value of 100k is reasonable but if I use an external box for volume then the value needs to be much lower? Thanks for your help. Ciao, --MR |
