I was remined earlier today of an incident that happened to me years ago, I
was working as an installer at the time and a customer came in with a used Pyle subwoofer and wanted an enclosure for it, so not having the specs readliy available I called Pyle and spoke to a tech, after giving me his guess at ported enclosure airspace, I said "uh... ok and what do you recommend for the port length if I am using a 3" diameter port. He says "Just cut about 12" of port then insert it into the port hole on the enclosure, the slide it in and out of the box and see at which length it sounds best. Then when you get to that spot cut the port." LMAO, I tried to explain the moving the port in and out of the box wouldn't change the volume of the port, so it wouldn't change the sound but it fell on deaf ears. N. Hanback |
