My BIC subwoofer stopped working and a audio repair place told
me the amp needed to be replaced. $300 for a new subwoofer
or $150 to replace that amplifier.

I'm not an electronics expert, but I can rewire thigns fairly well.
Is it worth trying to get the amplifier and save some money on the repair?
Or am I kidding myself. How compelx is a subwoofer inside?
