![]() Go he http://www.protapenw.com/ Enjoy. They're out of Seattle and they are reasonably priced (for the most part). I've used them off and on over the years when I've been in Seattle. They often have what other places do not. --fletch wrote: preferably online... thanks. |

Recording Media web site (http://www.usrecordingmedia.com naturally) today: UPDATE:::: Mar 10, 2005: The larger format tape (2", 1", 1/2") is completely out of stock. Quantegy's manufacturing is keeping their guys busy, but there probably won't be any more large format Quantegy tape ever. The new owners will most likely have a new name and they'll decide what tape will be made and what won't. You could probably count on 456 and GP9 for sure. We're told by Quantegy that there's tape scheduled to be shipped after April 1. But the new owners will be in charge by then most likely and they'll be calling the shots. Also, there definitely will be new studio quality open reel audio tape made here in Pennsylvania with the first tape being available probably in late May 2005 if not sooner. As soon as we have this tape available to you, it'll be posted on this web site. They're going to be making very good tape for almost everyone in the studio through broadcast, government, and even the home recordist. We feel everything from the new tape boxes through the sound and slitting of the tape is going to have a "classic" touch to it. I knew that Quantegy was in the market for a new owner. Apparently there's been some progress and someone has come up with a plan and money. In the meantime, these people still have 2" Quantegy 456 and GP9 in their on-line catalog and it doesn't balk when you add it to your "shopping cart." I didn't go as far as to make an actual purchase so I don't know if it would stop there. http://www.thetapecompany.com/quantegy.html http://www.tapetape.com sells used tape that's usually quite good, and they'll take it back if it isn't (but test it first before you use it on that famous artist's session). Their current listing has several reels of 2" tape available. I'd go with them before I went to an eBay seller. At least TapeTape knows what they're selling and has some idea of the condition. Their on-line ordering system seems to be hosed at the moment. I'd make a phone call. -- I'm really Mike Rivers ) However, until the spam goes away or Hell freezes over, lots of IP addresses are blocked from this system.
