Test CD
Good morning to all,
I would like to download a test CD from the net. I mean a CD with different tracks for different frequencies to test my HI FI installation. Do you know a site for this ? Tank you, Alan -- _______________________________________ Site personnel : http://perso.wanadoo.fr/dimphoto |

If you can get a copy of cooledit or similar audio sound software, you could create your own wav files that can be burned to a CD-R. The program would create the digital sample values to generate a "perfect" (as close as 16 bits gets you) sine or whatever wave you want, by math calculations. |

Tank you, Alan I think Fred used to have some on his site.If the current state of RAT hasn't scared him away,he'll be around eventually. I just found a dir of sound files I had saved.I also have a cd around (somewhere?) with a sine wave on each track,a few tracks of white, pink noise,etc,etc.. If I can find it I'll rip it. If you look on Kazaa,Napster, whatever, you can search for "THX" or "BASS" and you'll get lots of sines, and noise files, and those cool THX sound files. pretty handy ;-) I downloaded a whole bunch of sinewaves from like 18HZ,up to about 100HZ. useful for testing, and setting subwoofer levels.(If your sound card can handle anything below 40hz?) |

Do you know a site for this ? ** You really need to buy a CD with the appropriate tracks. A good one is the "Denon Audio Technical CD" # 38-C39 -7147 This has sine waves at various frequencies and many other things - 99 tracks in all. Best of all it has pink noise in octave and 1/3 octave bands for in-room speaker testing. Available from several web sites like Amazon and not expensive. ........... Phil |

I just found a Fred, Turner and some other great RATs left mainly because Phil Allison who has the audacity to post an answer in this thread. Tank you, Alan I've seen a CD on Ebay called "Audio QuickTest" that has a Windows interface that allows you to program any sine wave frequency from 5 Hz to 20 KHz, pink noise, white noise, sweeps bursts, etc. It even has a number of musical instrument voices (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, piano, fiddle, drums, etc.) available for testing. Seems to be a pretty full-featured program. I haven't bought one, but am thinking this may be a good tool to have around. Saves having to buy several pieces of expensive equipment. There's one on Ebay right now at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ategory=15 04, opening bid set at $19.98 USD, 'Buy Now" price is $25.00 USD. (No, I'm not the seller) -- Tweetldee Tweetldee at att dot net (Just subsitute the appropriate characters in the address) Never take a laxative and a sleeping pill at the same time!! |
