pox time
Just exactly how old are the participants in this little internecine
squabble this newsgroup has going? I haven't seen this much mutually escalated stupidity in action since I quit teaching junior high in the public schools some years ago. At least 14 and 15 year olds have the excuse of raging hormones, immaturity and inexperience on their side. Both sides apparently fancy themselves to have the high moral ground in this matter. There's an old saw about never arguing with an idiot - they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Take your pick as to who's who on this one. A pox on both your houses.... |

I tend to agree with the content of your post.
However . . . . what POSITIVE thing have YOU contributed to this NG lately, or ever? Well if there were so many interesting postings on tube craft, nobody would bother with defense against Andre and Phil, since we'd all be to engrossed in positive things to notice. But when the tube issues diminish to recent levels, you only have the desperate rabble left, and like a tiny ink blot on a white page, its all you notice. It only takes a couple of ppl to put fear into the majorities at news groups. They fear they will be insulted during a discussion if they fail to agree with the Jute/Allison mentality, which is that of the elitist supremicist, gazing down on the rest of us with notorious arrogance. But not with I, and I don't mind contrary views to my own. I cannot remember ever calling anyone an idiot, etc, etc, etc, except PA and AJ. Sit on the fence if you like, but unless you fertilise your farm, and nurture your crops, only weeds will grow. Patrick Turner. |

You write well and have summed up my thoughts perfectly. Congratulate
yourself on a "positive" input to the (group?) NG. By the way, were you around for last rant? It went on for the better part of a year before it died of apathy. This one shows no sign of abatement. I thought that I posed a fair question, not a personal attack.
Quite a few of the (non-anonymous) regulars on the N.G. have lamented the sorry state of affairs and asked the combatants to quit, to absolutely no avail. Please understand that a large part of the "problem" has been one or a few individuals hiding behind the cloak of anonymity. So why should anyone be particularly impressed by someone just dropping by to bitch incognito? Anyone can do that. Personally, I'd be more impressed by your gripe if you tried to contribute something regarding tubes and tube craft to the group. I think that's a reasonable expectation, not an attack. If I've hit a nerve, well, sorry. - Jon From: mercutio Organization: Posted via Supernews, http://www.supernews.com Newsgroups: rec.audio.tubes Date: Mon, 15 Dec 2003 22:07:20 -0600 Subject: pox time On Mon, 15 Dec 2003 19:58:44 -0800, Jon Yaeger wrote: I tend to agree with the content of your post. Looked more like a question, than a "jumped on" to me.

rec.audio.tubes Actually, the truth is far more embarrassing than Mercutio knows. This entire flame war is about one school bully, shall we call him Turner, who doesnt want a bespectacled, studious boy, shall we call him Andre, playing a game of tiddlywinks in a corner of the schoolyard, which Turner considers as all his own. So Turner repeatedly leads his gang charging through the game of tiddlywinks, wrecking it. Thats all there is to it, with the exception from the norm that Andre is capable of and willing to use his fists to protect his tiddlywinks. The other entries in this thread proves all my points. Mercutio makes the mildest possible criticism of Turner, without even naming him, and blaming Phil and/or me equally, also without naming names. Then Yeager, a member of the Turner gang, abrasively demands Mercutios credentials and whacks him one for his presumption in criticizing the sainted Patrick. Mercutio retorts mildly that it is exactly because he expected that sort of behaviour that he uses a pseudonym. Immediately another member of the gang, Chuck Harris, jumps in to support Yeager. That is precisely what I have been explaining about how the exclusionary practices of the Turner Gang operate, and how they damage RAT. The Turner Gang is the entire problem, and the entire solution is breaking up the mutual admiration society, whose members contribute nothing, and swatting Turner down to size without actually losing him. We don't need anyone to point it out!We know how bleedin obvious it is! It's kinda hard to miss. ;-) I just try not to feed the trolls, and carefully pick out actual posts from the rubble. Theres still actual *tube* discussion going on here, besides just flaming,BS,etc. Occur to you that perhaps I chose to remain anonymous with this particular post for the obvious reasons?
