Default LaScala ad on eBay-ROTFLMAO

I ran across this on fbay. I'm not posting the item number or info,
they aren't mine. I just thought this was funny.

RARE Old Vintage Klipsch LA SCALA Stereo Speakers

..
Offered here for auction are these very nice and TOP
QUALITY Klipsch brand La Scala model LSBR tube stereo speaker's. A
very clean and presentable pair that are in their original extra
desireable natural wood finish and look very presentable for
your radio room or den. These speakers are legendary for their loud
and true to music reproduction and are rated at 104db(I think that's a
record), so nail down everything in the room before use!! I've been
using them with my Marantz 8B tubes amp with a McIntosh preamplifier
off the 8 ohm taps with great results and please be aware that these
get VERY loud indeed! The pair are working good and sound fantastic,
but being vintage electronics, the speakers are sold as-is. I just
make sure they're not DOA.. Construction type of each is similar to
the Altec/JBL Voice of the Theatre speakers with 2 metal horn's for the
high's and mid's and a 15" inch woofer for some serious lows, so a
proven set-up that can handle many amplifier types, especially the
important 300B/2A3 single-ended! These have very nice crossover units
in the back to ensure proper split of frequencies. The pair feature
consecutive serial numbers and probably date to the 1960's, so they
didn't start life as 2 mono speakers put together, these have always
been a pair since factory. A super set that will sound great for many
years to come. The Klipsch brand is well known for great dependable
service for years. The condition is excellent with no major drops,
dents, dings, or damage, just a very small light scratch here and
there. A RARE chance at these unit's! A beautiful pair you don't see
everyday. When all is said and done a super looking and sounding pair
of speakers for the serious HiFi audio-phile and offered with
a LOW, LOW, LOW opening bid and no reserve, so please bid
accordingly. Payment to be received within 7 days of auction end or
item relisted and negative feedback left, so SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY, no
player's. I accept PAYPAL or check or money order for this sale.
PAYMENT TO BE RECEIVED BEFORE PICK-UP!! Please ask all questions before
bidding as all vintage/antique electronic items sold as-is. Please no
bids from those with zero or negative feedback. I reserve the right to
cancel bids. Serious bidders only. Thanks for looking. ********LOCAL
PICK-UP ONLY**********LOCAL PICK-UP ONLY**************
))((

Notice how they are TUBE stereo speakers. No cheating with Krells,
Threshholds or Boulders. And, it can handle the important 300B/2A3
single ended. Not just any speaker can, you know.

Very good. Scan the Bose ads next. I'm sure you'll find something funny you
can share here.

Cheers,

Margaret

Not only are they "tube", but the extra apostrophe is a beautiful touch.

A very clean and presentable pair that are in their original extra

Not only are they very clean and presentable, but they are also very
presentable.

Oh my goodness! "Rated" at 104dB! Whatever the hell that means.

Construction type of each is similar to
the Altec/JBL Voice of the Theatre speakers with 2 metal horn's for the
high's and mid's and a 15" inch woofer for some serious lows

Beautiful use of the apostrophe again, but a little disappointing to be left
off "lows" and "speakers" (this time.)

The pair feature
consecutive serial numbers and probably date to the 1960's

"Vintage", and they "probably" date to somewhere in, oh I don't know, the
60's.

A super set that will sound great for many
years to come.

But of course as you just said, "being vintage electronics, the speakers are
sold as-is".

offered with
a LOW, LOW, LOW opening bid and no reserve, so please bid
accordingly.

Whatever the hell that means.

All of the extra apostrophes (or even apostrophe's) were most likely from
the NOS cache stolen from Arnii Krooborg years ago. Now you know.

[snip puerile quibbling about nothing]

No, according to the auction description, they date from the 1980s.
Specifically, from 1983, if the seller has it right.

[snip more idiotic quibbling about nothing]

Are you another one of those true-believer, newer-is-better 'borgs who want
all horn speakers to be gathered up and burnt to a crisp in a bonfire?

http://www.soundscapeav.com/klipsch/klipsch1.htm

Lays it out in more detail:

SENSITIVITY: 104dB @ 1watt/1meter
POWER HANDLING: 100 watts maximum continuous (400 watts peak)
MAX ACOUSTIC OUTPUT: 121dB SPL

Note that the specs imply something like 30-50% distortion. This is because
the rated power handling of 100 watts (20 dB above 1 watt) combined with the
sensitivity of 104 dB (1watt/1meter) yields 124 dB. However, Klipsch
admits that there is so much distortion that actual output is 3 dB less.
Depending on how you interpret it, that amounts to 30-50% loss on peaks or
distortion.

Construction type of each is similar to
the Altec/JBL Voice of the Theatre speakers with 2 metal horn's for
the high's and mid's and a 15" inch woofer for some serious lows

Actually, the Voice of the Theater (either the A4 or the A7) were 2-way
designs with just one tweater:

I would say "date from the 1960s" but that would be krooglish. ;-)

A super set that will sound great for many

If you listen to ancient crap like these with your hearing still intact,
your hearing might not be intact after the experience is over.

The fact is Arny at the reasonable levels I listen to distortion is
minimal and the sound is pleasant, but after I get done with the
tweeter upgrade and possibly reworked woofers as well it will be more
so.

And the A4 and A7 still are 2 way designs. Many are still in use and
in modified form can sound very fine in a living room (if it's a big
living room).

Don't let Middius bully you. Do you think he'd let anything as oldy and
moldy as a LaScala into his house?

Seems like good applications for legacy audio equipment on hand.
