McIntosh speakers have never ben popular and in my opinion for good
reason. They have never made a speaker which equals the quality of some
of their better products. Of course McIntosh products are not as
expensively built as their appearance would suggest ofttimes but
nevertheless several of their products were world beaters. The original
275 and 240 amps, the surprisingly good sounding 7200, and the MR78
tuner were all barnburners and the MI200 was a fascinating and
impressive unit as well. But their speakers are baroque and just not
that great.
