Default Octal Crossover

Has anyone seen or built a crossover (pref. 3-way) using Octal tubes
like the 6SN7? Would like to build one, and would appreciate any
input, experience or schematics.

Thanks

Hi Ian ,

It's not possible to get good results with just any active X-over .
It should be specific for your speakers . Otherwise the original passive
X-over
in your speakers will sound much better. A speaker is just so much more
complex as you would think ......

Ronald .

I second that;
just forgot to say )

If the original crossover is an advanced one with compensation networks
matched to the speakers etc. then I agree with you. If the original
crossover is a simple high pass/low pass type, then using an active
crossover with the same crossover frequencies should be no problem.

Hi !
Tube Cad Journal sells very nice software here
http://store.yahoo.com/glass-ware/tubjourcomso.html
So you could design your own crossower using virtually any tube
Here is interesting article from TCJ :

Hope this helps
Best regards,
