I think Bill Bickers at Jukebox Friday Nite prefers the 6CZ5, but also uses
a 6CW5.... for 6973 subs. I have both subs in stock, 6CZ5@ $6.50 ea, 6CW5 @ $5 ea. new in box. Mark Oppat Antique Audio "proletariat" wrote in message ... thanks to all who replied on the earlier thread, but we sort of got off the original topic, so let me just cut to the quick: what tube, in your opinion is the best substitute for the 6973 within these two scenarios: 1. a pin compatible drop-in replacement that would only require rebiasing 2. the closest tube electrically that uses a 9-pin socket, that would require an adapter to shift the pinout around, but is the best performance and electrical match several tubes were mentioned earlier, but I am still not sure what to go with, so which 2 tubes are your favorites for the situations above? thanks! wild bill |
