Default Audio Critic: Let's Look At The Facts Behind the Reviewers

"There is a countervailing force among audio magazines... I'm referring
to The Audio Critic...an effective antidote to the self-serving
silliness of the other audio-buff publications... The Audio Critic's
reviews are models of rationality, coherence, and technical
competence."

-LARRY KLEIN in Electronics Now
(Larry Klein is the former Technical Editor ofStereo Review,
predecessor of
Sound&Vision.)
Electronics Now was a piece of **** Gernsback low end crappy lowest
common denominator magazine that died a merciful death. The old
Radio-Electronics, with reliably entertaining bozos like Lancaster, was
actually far better. Popular Electronics became worthless when it went
all-computer in the mid- 70s, leaving quality hobby electronics
coverage to specialty publications, in audio that was Ed Dell's TAA.

"I always enjoy reading your nice little magazine. It is a pleasure to
see that you have managed after all these years to continue to speak
the truth and keep your sense of proportion and humor."

-R. A. GREINER
Emeritus Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering
University of Wisconsin

Who? What has he designed?

"The Audio Critic...shines by an absence of the typical technical
nonsense that I find in all the other audio magazines. On top of that
the tone of presentation makes it so much more readable..."

-SIEGFRIED LINKWITZ*
Linkwitz Lab, Corte Madera, CA
*of Linkwitz-Riley crossover fame

Okay.

"...'Accountability in audio journalism' and your no-nonsense,
rational approach to product reviews are a refreshing change and a
source of continuing entertainment for me."

-JOSEPH D'APPOLITO, Ph.D.*
Andover, MA
*of D'Appolito speaker geometry fame

Let's face it, a lot of bad D"Appolito configured speakers have been
built. An awful, awful lot. I am not saying the concept is worthless,
but one big driver usually beats two smaller ones . Two of a given
speaker, like two engines on an airplane, isn't a really good number.
Maybe for slightly different reasons. The popularity of D'Appolito
configured speakers is mostly because it's a trendy fad. Maybe he had a
good reason at the time, but it's vastly overdone.
