Do all cd lens cleaner work or only some work like cd cleaner which
only some work ? Which one do you recommend is this best ? Which stores or websites could I buy it from ? I live in the UK. I don't want to waste money and time buying cleaners that don't work like I did for cd cleaners which I brought 2 different brands & none of them worked. |

They're all garbage, some will even damage your player. Only way to properly clean is to take it apart and clean it manually. |

Is it because it is not reading CD's properly any more? Try using compressed air to clean the lens and avoid anything that could potentially scratch the lens. If that doesn't work, the laser probably needs replacing. |

Compressed air is not adequate for anything which puts a film on the lens. A
cotton swab moistened but not dripping with window cleaner or pure alcohol works fine. One should follow with a dry one to get any residue. This will often cure the OP's problem. Mark Z. I refrain to inform you that this has not worked for me.When your cd player
is skipping, usually the laser and motor assembly is defect and needs replacing.Next door a technician had his servicing station, told me to get a lens cleaner for my Panasonic boombox, for which I paid an arm and a leg.The result was the boombox was for servicing six months, because they had to order the laser from japan, and of course it costed again an arm and a leg. -- Tzortzakakis Dimitri?s major in electrical engineering, freelance electrician FH von Iraklion-Kreta, freiberuflicher Elektriker dimtzort AT otenet DOT gr ? Scraping off dust (read: fine rocks) off a plastic lens at high speed is the
surest way to ruin a CD player. The only thing those kits are good for is making sure wether or not your player is damaged (they'll make sure.) |

I think you should rephrase that question: Try "Do *any* cd lens cleaners work? " Answer: No. Save your cash. take the advice about using a q tip and alcohol/window cleaner . Ben |

oups.com Do all cd lens cleaner work or only some work like cd cleaner which only some work ? Its more like that many of them only work some of the time. Which one do you recommend is this best ? Every one I've seen was pretty much like the rest. There was a little camel's hair brush glued to the underside of a CD. There was an audio or data track on the CD that would guide the lens until the brush stroked it. This plan has a number of limitations. For example, what if dirt on the lens wasn't the problem? What if the dirt was of a kind that dry brushing wouldn't remove? What if the lens was so dirty that it couldn't track a CD well enough to bring the brush over the lens? I've seen CD lens cleaners make marginal players work better, but I've also seem them have no effect at all. I sense that their effectiveness is more dependent on the nature of the problem, given that the cures are all pretty much the same. |
