idea is not feasible, but I'll ask anyway.

I have an old Diamond Rio 500. As you may recall, that device comes
with 64MB, and the device is only expandable to a total of 128MB. What
I would like to do is hook up to my Seagate Pocket Drive (5GB). My
goal is to leave the Rio in my car (via a tape cassette adapter or FM
transmitter adapter), and hook it to the Pocket Drive whenever I'm
driving.

So, I've got this USB cable coming from the Rio, and the USB pigtail on
the PD, and I wondered if I just hooked 'em into a double female

the RIO be able to read the PD. Probably not, I guess, because the
drivers to read the PD don't reside on the RIO.

So, what I'm asking is, is there any way to hack the RIO to have a
really big memory?

Or, is there any small mp3 player that doesn't necessarily hold memory
itself, but will snap on to a USB connection and read/play music files
somehow?

USB is a client/host system. All connections are from host (the PC) to a
client (a rio, a USB hard drive, a USB mousae, etc.) client-client
connections aren't supported. Now if this was firewire...
