Hi. I'm new to the home theater market but have decided to purchase either
the Yamaha RX V1500 or HTR5790 receiver. Now the ?, how good or bad are the Yamaha speaker packages NS-FP9500 or NS-P436. I'm not looking to have sounds produced that can't be heard, not trying to keep neighbors awake, and the destination room is not a studio. Any thoughts.. Thanks for any insight.. Don... |

Yamaha speakers are used in many studios for nearfield mixing. They have flaws but they are known flaws and the studio people just EQ them out. I would check reviews of HT speakers and do some listening to find out what suits you. One of he better reviewed set ups is from Boston Acoustics, and I think you can find a review in the Stereophile or Sound and Vision archives. Most important is to be able to listen in your own space and have the option of returning for full credit if you are not happy with what you get. Other options would include speakers from PSB, NHT, Definitive Technology, JBL, and Polk. |
