Right. So i recently got a new set of highs, and installed em in the
dash. No problems. Had a couple little power problems -- had to rewire stuff a bit -- that's when the real problems started: During the rewiring, I may have touched the case of the amp with the battery lead -- causing sparking. Now, I'm running the power feed from the battery (i know... bad.) -- it's basically a long power cable running the battery lead with the ground lead, in one cable. The problem started soon there after -- the amp powers up fine. When i feed a WEAK signal into it, things are OK. When the signal gets stronger the amp goes into "protect" or something. The LED goes dim and I get little tiny clicks and such. If i power-off the amp, it takes a LONG TIME for it to work again.. maybe hours. I think that'd be a Cap problem, no? I took the amp out, took it apart, doesn't seem like there's anything wrong! Oh, and I've got 2 amps in series off the same power lead -- both are experiencing the same problem, even if they're not connected together. :| VERY frustrating. Please help. Peter |
